of the world where Sindhi is commonly spoken (red circle). Sindhi
developed in the Indic family of languages from the Indo-Iranian
branch of Indo-European. Its immediate ancestor was Vedic Sanskrit.
Bengali is most closely related to Assamese,
Gujarati, Hindi,
Marathi, Punjabi,
Bengali, Singhalese,
Romany, and Urdu.
