Though I have taught a wide range of courses, I consider myself a specialist of contemporary French and Francophone Literatures. In the first phase of my research, I focused mostly on the evolution of French theatre from the 19th-21st centuries through the filter of Media Studies (Radio-Television-Film). More recently, I have begun to explore contemporary media and literary narratives from both within and outside of the French tradition. Whether in literature or in film, I am particularly interested in the notions of performative gender, sexuality, subjectivity, and identity construction. Given these research interests, my work is inherently interdisciplinary, intersecting with the domains of contemporary French, North African, Sub-Saharan African, and Caribbean literatures and cultures.
